The chairman of the Culture and Media Committee of the Parliament assured that comprehensive changes in the public media will be implemented this year. Most likely it will be March-April. As he noted, “two or one act will be needed to restore the legal order.”
– The order includes the competences of the National Broadcasting Council and the National Media Council, which should be liquidated as soon as possible. These tasks are quite a lot, first of all, they were assigned to Minister Sienkevich – he said on the air of Radio Zet.
Zdrojewski admitted that there is “a fear that there will be no special will of President Andrzej Duda to sign it.” However, the government hopes for constructive negotiations.
The National Media Council has been liquidated
Zdrojewski said that the draft of the cancellation of the National Media Council was already developed in the previous parliamentary term and is in the parliamentary “freezer”.
– This was the project voted on by the Senate. It's a good project that may need a little tweaking over time, but overall it's ready. There are ready-made assumptions about the main law of media. According to him, some of these assumptions were discussed in 2023.
