In response to the criticism, a statement was published on the website Wyborcza.pl on Saturday evening, including: Roman Imielski, First Deputy Editor of Gazeta Wyborcza

After Marcin Kacki's article “My Journalism – Alcohol, Failed Therapy, Badly Loved Women, Neglected Daughters and Fear of the Dawn” by Marcin Kacki published in Wyborcza.pl, first the victim of the journalist's behavior spoke about this issue, and then two editors of the “Gazette”. I struggled.” The text received a great response on social networks.

In the material, the author described the problems of addiction, social relations and family, and sought the sources of the problems in a difficult struggle with family news from years ago and the demands of the journalist's profession.

Then a note of Ketski's victim appeared on Facebook. “Newsweek Polska” journalist Karolina Rogaska, among others, writes: “I'm tired of this manipulation, of justifying my bad behavior with experience: I did something wrong, but life treated me badly. I also have many difficulties. Experience behind me” or “unfortunately”, this I couldn't forget the text, you spat in my face with this text, Markin”, Katski's material was criticized.

In response to the criticism, on Saturday evening, the website Wyborcza.pl published a statement by Roman Imielski, the first deputy editor of “Gazeta Wyborcza”.

“On Friday afternoon, we published the text of Marcin Ketski, My Journalism – Alcohol, Failed Therapies, Badly Loved Women, Neglected Daughters, and Fear of the Dawn.”

On Saturday, Newsweek reporter Karolina Rogaska posted a note on Facebook saying she was one of the women Markin was writing about. “I am one of the victims, everything is not right,” she wrote.

The Polish School of Reporting also revealed today that a few weeks ago, a graduate of the school, Rogaska, reported Markin's inappropriate behavior, for which he was suspended from classes.

We take these claims very seriously and clarify the matter on our pages.

Roman Imielski, first deputy editor-in-chief of “Gazeta Wyborcza”.

The statement was also published by the deputy editor-in-chief of “Gazeta Wyborcza” Aleksandra Sobchak. In it, he described his stories with abusers and noted in the context of Katzky's text:

“I think I understand the victims of sexual abuse, and of course I have a very strong empathy for them. I would like “Vibortsa” to be a place where the rights of the victims will be protected and we will show their perspective.

This was missing from Marcin Kącki's text. I'm sorry about that, we as editors have to take care of it. The voices of Markin's victims, which he described in his text, are very important to me. One of them is Karolina Rogaska, who posted an extensive post on Facebook on Saturday.

and the following:

“I condemn Markin's aggressive behavior, but at the same time I appreciate his apology and shame, which I find sincere. No one but him is publicly sorry. And yet many men have such stories. Maybe I'm naive, but I hope that the next text of Ketsky will be moved by the conscience of others and maybe they will try At least say a simple “I understand, I'm sorry”.
