Risard Gromadzki: Could the Tusk government's takeover of public media be political fuel for PiS, allowing it to rally after losing the election? Will Kaczynski's party manage to mobilize public opinion to protect the state media? Prof. Antony Dudek:
I have the impression that by taking actions to protect public media, PiS can only consolidate its strong supporters. This can be seen from previous rallies in front of TVP, where at its peak perhaps 200 people gathered. If that was the issue that got people going, there would be more. We will see how it will be at the rally announced on January 11, then probably many more will come, but I don't think it will change anything. Especially after it was revealed how much TVP stars were paid for ineffective – as in the end – anti-Trump propaganda. In my opinion, a dispute on public media does not attract supporters of either side. Also Tusk and his government. Both sides lose. which one else I do not know. The polls show this as it all unfolds. However, I would be surprised if PiS support suddenly reached 40 percent again. Apart from all this, I get the impression that this argument is of interest to a limited group of people. The issue of changes in TVP is important for people who are very interested in politics and journalists, which is why this topic is still relevant in the media. However, most people live for things other than TVP.
