On Tuesday evening, PiS politicians were detained by the police at the presidential palace, where they were at the invitation of the head of state.
– My act of pardon in 2015 was legal. Nevertheless, today the gentlemen are in prison and their lives are in danger every day. Therefore, at the request of the wives of Mariusz Kaminski and Maciej Vesik, I decided that I am starting the pardon procedure. This will be a presidential process, absolutely in accordance with all constitutional standards, President Duda said in a statement to the media.
We remind you that in December the court sentenced the former heads of CBA Mariusz Kaminski and Maciej Vasik to two years of absolute imprisonment for the so-called Land scandal.
President Duda turned to Bodnar. “The decision has been made”
President Andrzej Duda appealed to the Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar to suspend the execution of the sentence and release the prisoners during the pardon process. – I hope that prosecutor Adam Bodnar, former human rights commissioner, will quickly review this request and make a decision that is in line with Poland's interests, – said the head of state.
As reported by Onet, General Prosecutor Adam Bodnar will not release Mariusz Kaminski and Maciej Vesik from prison in the next few hours.
According to the interlocutors of the portal, “the leadership of the Ministry of Justice made a decision” to “not act hastily” on this issue. This means that law and justice politicians may spend a few more days in jail.
On Thursday, the media reported that Kamiński and Wąsik They have already been released from custody Warsaw-Grokhov. The PiS politicians were sent to two different prisons – Kaminski was transferred to the pre-trial detention center in Radom, and Vesik to Przytuli Stare prison near Ostrolenka.
