Finn's victory in Dobiaco. Poles far away

Finland's Pertu Hivarinen won the 10km classic pursuit race in Dobiaco, Italy, the second stage of the Tour de Ski Cycle, which is part of the World Cup. The best pole was Dominic Berry, who took 76th place.

32-year-old Hivarinen achieved a time of 23:08.6. He was 16.2 seconds ahead of Norway's Erik Valnes, and 17.2 seconds ahead of his countryman, World Championship general classification leader Harald Oestberg Amundsen.

Poles occupied distant places. 76th Dominic Berry was 2:57.3 behind the winner at the finish line. Experienced Maciej Starega was 80th, 3:33.1 behind, while Kamil Bury was 83rd – 3:42.2 behind Hyvarinen.

Earlier on Sunday, the women competed in the 10km classic technique pursuit in Dobiaco. Finnish Kerttu Niskanen was the best. The tallest Polish woman was Izabela Markis, who was 57th.

The Tour de Ski is a series of prestigious races, which this time takes place in Italy and Switzerland. Men and women compete on the same days. Only players who have completed the entire competition are classified. This season TdS will also compete in Davos and Val di Fiem.

The winners of the previous edition were Norwegian Johannes Klaebo and Swedish Frida Carlson. In 2010-13, Justyna Kowalczyk won the series four times.

Many top players did not participate in the latest edition of TdS due to flu and Covid-19 infection, including: Klaabo, three-time winner of the event, five-time Olympic champion, nine-time world champion and world leader.
