“Gazeta Wyborcza” journalist Marcin Kącki spoke about the author of the controversial text, which was finally removed from the website Wyborcza.pl, after which the author was accused of violent behavior towards women. In the end, the editors removed the text from the Wyborcza.pl website, and Markin Kecski was suspended and removed from working with journalists. The editors of “Gazeta Wyborcza” also apologized for publishing the text: “Unfortunately, after some time we realize that this publication has harmed people who became its heroes without their will. One of them is Karolina Rogaska.”
The Polish School of Reporting reports that “a few weeks ago we learned that she (Karolina Rogaska – Editor's Note) was victimized by Markin Katzki. We dismissed him from working with PSR students and informed him about the reasons for this decision,” Mariusz Shchigiel, president of the Institute of Reporting, wrote in a statement.
Kacki now writes on his Facebook profile that he wants to “leave this issue with full responsibility to the commission, which in Wyborcza should explain my attitude towards my colleagues and collaborators. I look forward to a reliable vetting procedure and the participation of all those who raise any objections to my attitude.”
And further: “A number of content published about me over the past week indicate that there are other situations than the case of Karolina Rogaska. There are not and never have been any such situations.”
Regarding the Institute of Reporting, Katzki added: “I never received official information that I was expelled or expelled from the School of Reporting. However, I have long expressed reservations about how this school operates and its staff know what. The accusations I made, the ethos I espoused, and the inquiries I received from students at the school over the years. I would like them to be checked again if there is any doubt in this regard.
She also notes that “my colleagues in the editorial office knew that I was preparing this kind of material, and if there was any doubt, it was about taking the subject in the context of the strong emotions associated with the struggle for women's rights. “Carolina made a comment that was very well received by people, which then completely changed their narrative, and I don't blame anyone for that, but so I expect all doubts to be investigated and reliably clarified.”
