Recently, more and more information about the retirement of Jaroslaw Kaczynski has been spread. The president of PiS himself made it clear that he is considering such a possibility. Recently, former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki admitted that he wants to become Kaczynski's successor. and will take over the leadership of the party.
In an interview with Radio Plus, Ryszard Zarnetsky talked about the leadership of law and justice and Kaczynski's announced political retirement. The politician does not hide that he is against such a solution.
– I already had a conversation with Mr. Kaczynski. I presented him twice with arguments that absolutely show that he should continue in the position of President of Law and Justice, said the MEP.
Czarnecki emphasizes that the party is united thanks to Kaczynski. – I believe that it guarantees the unity of our camp, the patriotic camp, the independence camp. I believe that he should continue to perform this function. Besides, if he stood in the elections, I think he would get a lot of support,” he said.
Tusk as president?
Ryszard Czarnecki was also asked about Donald Tusk's political future. According to him, the possibility of becoming a European Commissioner is not at stake, but only the head of the entire European Commission.
– However, I believe that Donald Tusk's main ambition is the position of the President of the Republic of Poland. He takes the presidency very seriously, and Marshal Shimon Holonia certainly understands that. By now, the prime minister and the head of the civil platform in the government coalition should reach an agreement on this issue, Zarnetski said.
Presidential elections will be held in the spring of 2025. Acting President Andrzej Duda cannot run for the third term. So far, no party has named its candidate.
