Local self-government elections. Tusk decided
Local self-government elections will be held on April 7 and 21. Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced this at a press conference.
– This is how we start the local government election calendar. I am in constant contact with local government representatives. After obtaining a positive conclusion from the National Election Commission, which is actually a formality, we will be able to participate in these elections, which are very important for the lives of local communities and ordinary people, he said.
Poles elect members of local government bodies: commune councils (including city councils with poviat rights), foviat councils and voivodship assemblies, as well as sole executive bodies of communes – commune heads, mayors, city presidents.
Since 2018, elections have been held every 5 years (this is the term of office of governing bodies; it lasted 4 years between 1998 and 2018). In 2018, the first round of local self-government elections in Poland was held on October 21.
