News 24 (Astro) is a news channel focused on journalism, which is cheaper to produce than news.
– News 24, of course, will remain, but it will slightly change its character, making it more of a journalistic station – says Rissard Krajewski, chairman of Astro's supervisory board. He adds that journalism can be done with more modest means and does not require additional staff, e.g. reporters.
New schedule on News 24
Currently, the News 24 team consists of about 20 people. It will be expanded, but – as Krajewski points out – only for publicists. The new schedule is being worked on, but the conversation with the guests will dominate the air.
The station will broadcast from March 2022. Nielsen Media has not controlled it since June 2023 due to tax arrears. In the first half of the year, it was below 0.01%. Participation in common 4+ groups. Last year, the channel said goodbye to many employees. Some of them accuse the station of non-payment of salaries. Some former News 24 journalists currently work at TVP Info, including: Jacek Zimnik, Bartlomiej Fereticzki and Rafal Skorski.
After three quarters of 2023, Astro, which is also the producer of “Familiada”, recorded a revenue of PLN 2.27 million and a loss of PLN 2.5 million. Compared to the same period of 2022, its revenues increased by 15.2%. Expenses decreased by 33.4%. and reached PLN 3.26 million. Astro's losses narrowed by 47.8%. – from PLN 4.79 million to PLN 2.5 million.
