Compared to the November rating, Duda fell from 16th to 19th position.

Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen remains the leader of the FIDE ranking in January. The Norwegian chess player held the first position for 12 and a half years. Jan-Krzysztof Duda is 19th, Radoslav Wojtašek is 58th and Mateusz Bartel is 78th.

Carlsen is ahead of the Americans Fabiano Caruana (for the first time in his career he exceeded 2800 points) and Hikaru Nakamura, as well as the reigning world champion, China's Ding Liren.

The only change to the top 10 from a month ago was the promotion of American Leinier Dominguez Perez to a career-high eighth place (from tenth in May 2014), which saw former Indian world champion Viswanathan move from 10th to 11th in Ananda.

Compared to November's ranking, Duda dropped from 16th to 19th position, while the other two Poles in the top 100 improved: Wojtysek from 60th to 58th and Barthel from 79th to 78th.

In the FIDE rapid chess ranking, Duda is in sixth place with 2748 points. Liren is in the lead – 2830, ahead of Carlsen – 2823 and Frenchman Maxime Vachier-Lagrave – 2755, and Wojtasek is in 46th place – 2654.

In the blitz classification, Carlsen leads – 2886, followed by Nakamura – 2874 and French representative Alireza Firuzja – 2863. Duda is ninth – 2766.
