The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces issued a statement about the takeoff of F-16 fighter jets.
We inform you that intensive long-range aviation activity of the Russian Federation has been observed, which is related to the execution of strikes on the territory of Ukraine,” we read.
“To ensure the security of Polish airspace, two pairs of F-16 fighter jets and allied air tankers were deployed,” the military added.
The first two vehicles took off from the Liski base at 5:45. After 30 minutes, two more were involved in operations. Two American and two Polish fighters are participating in the action.
“We warn that Polish and allied aviation activities in our airspace may be associated with increased noise levels, especially in the eastern part of the country,” it reads.
Speaking to “Interia”, the spokesman of the operational command, Lt. Col. Jacek Gorishevsky explained that we are not dealing with an unusual event.
– This is not a different procedure than is usually used for such activities. A decision has been taken to openly inform about such activities, he reassured.
