1. Declasse! Sabalenka on his knees, a painful defeat for his great rival Switchtek
The decisive duel turned out to be more equal, and in the first set – ending with a tie-break – Goff had to admit the superiority of his 10 years older opponent. However, he later won the next two sets. The match lasted two hours and 35 minutes.
– I defended the title for the first time in my career. This is an important event in my career. I am doubly happy, because this year there were no problems with the weather, the courts were crowded, the audience responded very well, whereas last year we had to hide in the hall and play for a few people, emphasized Gauff.
– Defeat obviously hurts, but I have no right to complain. It was a wonderful time, summed up the Ukrainian.
Corey Gough – Elina Svitolina 6:7 (4-7), 6:3, 6:3
