79-year-old Mr. Kazimierz Slesik lives in a small village near Nidzitsa, Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship. Here he got married and raised his children. When he started working in the 1960s, he had no idea it was inhumane The regulations will deprive him of the right to a decent pension.
– I got a tractor and motorcycle driver's license, I went to the agricultural club. After two years, I moved to the second category, trucks. I also passed and continued like that – says Kazimierz Shlesicki to “Intervention”.
– Mr. Kazimier has Work experience 12 years and 10 months. Mr. Kazimierz's last job was in 1974, and since then no contributions have been paid to him because he covered farmers' and health insurance. Contributions were paid to KRUS – says Anna Grabowska, spokesperson of the Olsztyn ZUS branch.
Tragedy while working on the farm
in 1979 Mr. Kazimierz lost his leg while working on the farm. then The man retired and received a pension from KRUS. All responsibility rested with Mr. Kazimierz's wife.
– The accident happened when I was taking a sloop with a barrel wagon. I was wearing a protective apron, but the wind blew over my support and came in. My skin was cut, recalls the 79-year-old.

– And I myself had to raise five children and take care of everything, because there was a farm here: three horses, five cows, a pig. This is life? It was vegetation, not life – adds his wife Irina Sleshika.
He was born too early to receive a pension
The Ślesiccy family survived difficult times. When Mr. Kazimierz reached retirement age He hoped that his and his wife's financial situation would improve. He hoped to receive a pension from KRUS and ZUS. Unfortunately, under current law, the man was born too early to qualify for two benefits.
– I wrote to ZUS myself and was told that if he was 49 then yes it would still cover him but since he was born in 1944 then it wouldn't. I wrote a second time and asked them to return the contributions, what my husband paid, what my husband worked in this state service, but they also wrote the same. It's dos and don'ts, they've come up with a few vintages now. I don't know, I don't know. This is stupidity, human stupidity – says Irina Sleshika.

– Persons born before January 1, 1949, in order to receive pension assistance from the ZUS, must meet two conditions: first, they must reach the general retirement age, i.e. 65 for men, and also have the appropriate length of service. That is 25 years. Contributions paid are non-refundable. Never – explains Anna Grabowska, spokesperson of the ZUS branch in Olsztyn.
Kazimierz Slesicki predicts this Thanks to the ZUS benefit, his pension will increase by about PLN 1,000. – This is a lot of money for me, I would have twice as much money. I have to blame my parents, it seems I was born too soon. To me it's unfair, it's just a scam. I think I am Polish, I have Polish citizenship and I worked honestly, he says.
