Designers should not be educated in art schools, because a designer should not be an artist in the same sense as a painter or sculptor. An artist should be a free person who has his own ideals, mission, vision and implements it himself at his own risk. A designer must create something for others, so he cannot force us to understand the world, but must first understand us. We teach freshmen psychology, anthropology, philosophy, humanities, and we teach them to observe people to see how people function and then develop what we need, says Piotr Voelkel.
