As recalled by the Association of Polish Cinematographers, Janusz Majewski was the recipient of the Special Lifetime Achievement Award “Platinum Lions” at the 41st Gdynia Film Festival in 2016, as well as the Award of the Association of Polish Cinematographers for Outstanding Artistic Achievement and Contribution to Development. Polish cinematography and the Polish film award “Orzeł” for lifetime achievements.
Majewski served as president of the Polish Cinematographers Association for many years and was deeply involved in the affairs of the Polish film community.

Janusz Majewski realized, among others, such films as “The Criminal Who Stole the Crime” (1969), “Lokis” (1970), “Jealousy and Medicine” (1973), “Zaklęte Wiry” (1975), “The Gorgonova Case” ( 1977), “The lesson of the dead” (1979), “CK Dezerterzy” (1985), “Eccentrics, or the sunny side of the street” (2015). The television series “Królowa Bona” (1980) brought extraordinary popularity to Janusz Majewski.
“Janusz Majewski highly valued meetings with the audience he loved and participated in large numbers in his reviews, retrospectives and author meetings. In October 2023, the Association of Polish Cinematographers organized a very popular Janusz Majewski retrospective, in which he personally participated every day. In November, he was a guest of Roman Polanski at a screening of his films In the Kultura cinema, – we read in the subsequent memoirs, which were published by the Association of Polish Cinematographers on Facebook.
