There is a legal impasse regarding the case of Mariusz Kaminski and Maciej Vesik. In December last year, law and justice politicians were legally convicted of the so-called Land scandal in 2007. Kaminsky and Vesik were then the heads of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau. In 2015, President Andrzej Duda used the amnesty law against them.
On Friday, the Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs Chamber of the Supreme Court annulled the decision of the Speaker of the Seimas Regarding the announcement of the expiration of the mandate of MP Mariusz Kaminski. Earlier, the Audit Chamber of the Supreme Court made a similar decision in the case of Deputy Maciej Vasik. The annulment of Shimon Holunia's decision means that both Kaminski and Vesik are still MPs and are protected by parliamentary immunity.
Despite this decision, the head of the Seimas Chancellery, Jacek Cichoki, blocked the voting cards belonging to Mariusz Kaminski and Maciej Vesic.
“political prisoner”
On Monday, Mariusz Kaminski published a note on the social network, where he clearly stated that he was a deputy and “only physical violence can prevent him from participating in the sessions of the Seimas.”
“This lawlessness that we have in the country now can put me in prison. But there I will fight and, as the first political prisoner since 1989, I will remain a free person,” the PiS politician added. His post appeared on the X platform.
