On Friday, the Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs Chamber of the Supreme Court annulled the decision of the Speaker of the Seimas Regarding the announcement of the expiration of the mandate of MP Mariusz Kaminski. Earlier, the Audit Chamber of the Supreme Court made a similar decision in the case of Deputy Maciej Vasik. The annulment of Shimon Holunia's decision means that both Kaminski and Vesik are still MPs and are protected by parliamentary immunity.
The case causes great emotions. The current ruling coalition and part of the legal community argue that the Supreme Court's Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs Chamber is not a de facto court due to improper appointments.
The General Director of the Office of the Speaker of the Seimas, Stanislaw Zazdrowiemski, said that the head of the Seimas Chancellery, Jacek Cichocki, blocked the voting cards belonging to Mariusz Kaminski and Maciej Vesic. This means that both politicians will not be able to participate in the voting in the Seimas.
In December, there were the heads of CBA They were sentenced to the final judgment The court sentenced them to two years in prison for the so-called land scandal, despite the fact that in 2015 President Andrzej Duda used the amnesty law against them.
Holovnia: I am not a criminal
– This is complete nonsense. Marshal Holonia decided to expire his mandate, then I took part in the voting, these votes were not in doubt. I fulfill my mandate, it is my duty. I am still a deputy – Mariusz Kaminski said on RMF FM. – The Supreme Court has already commented on this matter. Marshal Holonia has nothing to advise – he emphasized.
– No, I am not a criminal and most likely, I will soon be the first political prisoner in our country, – said the law and justice politician. “Few people know what made me lucky,” said the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration. – I was already repressed during the communist era. Now I should be put in prison for fighting corruption, he said.
Mariusz Kaminski assured that he will participate in the next session of the Seimas. “Only the use of physical violence on me can prevent me from doing so,” he said.
– What is currently happening in Poland is a state of anarchy – he said.
