At the session of the Seim Rules and Deputies Affairs Committee held on December 28, the deputies discussed the 2024 budget of the Chancellery of the Seim. Its amount will increase to PLN 756 million. This is due to the need to pay the 20% promised by Donald Tusk Salaries of public sector employees.
Meanwhile, the head of the Chancellery of the Seimas, Jacek Cichoki, pointed out at the committee meeting that the deputies are paying attention to the need to increase two lump sums for parliamentarians.
– I received a lot of requests regarding the functioning of the parliament offices and the remuneration of the employees of these offices. In these demands, deputies and club chairmen indicated the problem of increasing rent and electricity costs, he said.
Salary increase for MPs
The raise for MPs includes a lump sum for the management of MPs' offices and accommodation for politicians in Warsaw. The first of them, which currently amounts to 19 thousand. PLN will grow by next year's projected inflation rate, i.e. 6.6%. This means that from the new year, deputies will receive PLN 20,254 for managing their office.
In the second case, parliamentarians currently receive up to PLN 3,500 for renting an apartment in the capital. It is planned to increase by 14.4%, that is, the average annual inflation rate by 2022. This means that a politician who decides to give up the House of Parliament and rent an apartment in the capital will receive PLN 4,004 per month from the Sejm Chancellery.
The members of the Seimas committee accepted the draft budget of the Seimas for the next year, which provides for the proposed changes in the amount of one-time funds received by the deputies. The chairman of the Chamber, Shimon Holavnia, will make the final decision on this matter.
As the deputy chairman of the Chancellery of the Seimas, Marek Deskuri, assures, there are no plans to increase the allowances and salaries of MPs.
