On Thursday, a “Protest of Free Poles” took place in Warsaw, organized by Law and Justice. Initially, it was supposed to concern only the public media, over which PiS lost control, but it turned into an anti-government demonstration. During the protest, the thesis was raised that there were problems with the reception of the “Republic” TV station.
According to the organizers, 200-300 thousand people participated in the action. people. For her part, the spokeswoman of the capital's city hall, Monika Beut, told TVNWarszawa.pl after Thursday 17 that, based on monitoring, the number of participants was estimated at 35,000.

The protest started in front of the Seimas at 16:00. At 5:30 p.m., the participants went to the Prime Minister's Office on Alee Uiazdowski, and then to the Belvedere Palace. The action ended after 7 pm.

PiS President Yaroslav Kaczynski told the protesters: – Free media is being destroyed at the moment. Mateusz Morawiecki, the former prime minister, added: – The government wants a media monopoly. He wants all important media to speak with one voice. On his part, PiS MP Przemysław Charnek said: – You can change the curators, you can change the authorities of the public media, but only in accordance with the law, only in accordance with the constitution.
At the protest, the representatives of PiS spoke about the problems with the reception of the “Republic” TV station, which broadcasts the march. A similar version was presented on this channel by its president and editor-in-chief Tomas Sakievic: – The future government says that you should listen to the television that we want and not others. Because there is an attack on the “Republica” TV station as well. You see it today. It is impossible to receive a signal in many places. We are reporting further hacking attacks on our websites. According to him, all this is not accidental.
The Tvrepublika.pl website was indeed temporarily unavailable on Thursday. However, there have been such access delays before, for example, at the end of December, due to increased Internet traffic on the day of Danuta Holecka's debut on the “Dziage” website.

In turn, some Internet users wrote about the problems of the terrestrial broadcasting of the “Republic” TV station (it broadcasts on the local MUX). – Maybe someone had a problem with reception due to some rain or snow, but everything is 100 percent on the transmission side. We checked it after 4pm today, Michal Winnicki, owner of MWE Networks group, which is responsible for some terrestrial broadcasts, told us.

There were many anti-government slogans at the rally. Among others, the participants chanted: “Tusk in a cell, not in Brussels” and had on banners, for example, “The red crow will not defeat the eagle.” Both the marchers and the PiS politicians who spoke also spoke about the party's politicians, Mariusz Kaminski and Maciej Vesic, who were sentenced to prison and who, according to the PiS narrative, are political prisoners.
