This is Rudick's second medal in Apeldoorn. On Wednesday, he won bronze in the team sprint.

The 28-year-old cyclist from Grudzidze repeated the result of the previous European Championship. He made his way to the podium on Friday, knocking off first Spain's Alejandro Martinez and then France's Sebastien Viget. On Saturday, he experienced “déjà vu”, competing against the same opponents as last year in Grenchen, Switzerland: he won 2-0 in the semi-finals against Mikhail Yakovlev, a representative of Russian descent from Israel, and was defeated by Lavreisen in the final. The heavily built Dutchman, the Olympic and world champion, was clearly ahead by 0.111s and 0.119s in both races to win gold.

Natalya Sibiak won a medal in the 500m from the standings and Viktoria Pikulik narrowly missed out on the points race. Both took fifth place. In addition, Alan Banashek was seventh in the omnium, as was Paulina Petri in the 500m, and Patrikja Lorkovska was 17th in the qualifying race.

The hero of the day was Lotte Kopec from Belgium. The reigning world champion in the road race proved in a mass start that he feels great on the track as well, winning two gold medals in 30 minutes – in the points and elimination races. Also on Saturday, Britain's Cathy Marchant won the 500m while compatriot Ethan Hayter, winner of the 2022 Tour de Pologne, won the Omnium.

The championship will end on Sunday. Lavreisen and Ruddick will face each other again in the first lap of the keirin. The Dutchman, who has already won two gold medals in Apeldoorn (in team and individual sprint), does not hide that he wants to win a third gold medal. He set the same goal for himself at the Olympic Games in Paris.
