Polsat News Polityka replaced Wydarzenia 24 channels among pay TV operators (photo: press materials)

Polsat News Polityka channel was launched. The channel's offer includes journalism and materials from the life of the Parliament, as well as from the activities of the Seimas and the Senate. Sessions of investigative committees will also be broadcast. The channel took over the license of Event 24. It remains but broadcasts under a new terrestrial licence.

From Monday to Friday at 17:30 on Polsat News Polityka you will be able to follow the “Studio Parliament” broadcast from the Sejm. They will be hosted by Bartlomiej Mashlankiewicz and Wojciech Dabrowski, parliamentary reporters of Polsat News.

Also from Monday to Friday, but at 9 p.m., Karolina Oleak and Przemysław Šubartowicz, journalists from Interia, will summarize today's Polish politics in a “political debate” with politicians, commentators and experts.

“We see an increase in interest in politics and news journalism. This is what Poland has been experiencing in recent months. The record turnout in the elections showed that Poles want to have an active influence on the current processes in politics,” says Piotr. Witwicki, the director, is quoted in the publication. Among the pay TV operators, Polsat News Polityka has replaced the Wydarzenia 24 channel, which means that, for example, on cable networks, Polsat News Polityka is broadcast instead of Wydarzeń 24. Events 24, on the other hand, builds coverage from scratch. They switched to broadcasting with a new terrestrial license (Telewizja Polsat won the KRRiT competition) – in the first multiplex, in the 49th position.

Events 24 was already available on land but on MUX 4 operated by Polsat Plus Group. However, it has a smaller reach than MUX 1. On Tuesday, Tomasz Matwieczyk, spokesperson and director of corporate communications at Polsat Plus Group, confirmed that from Wednesday Polsat News Polityka will broadcast on MUX 4, replacing Event 24 there.

On Tuesday, operators received information from Polsat that if they wanted to broadcast the 24th event, they should contact the station's distribution department. This means that initially Events 24's access may be restricted until the broadcaster and operators reach an agreement.

“Let's get the channel up and running first,” Piotr Kaniowski, a Canal+ spokesperson, told us on Tuesday when asked if Events 24 will be part of the Canal+ platform offering.

Events 24 averaged 0.74 percent in 2023, according to Nielsen Media. The overall 4+ group share compared to 0.64 percent in 2022.
