DoRzeczy.pl: At any time there could be great confusion regarding the attempt to arrest MPs Kaminski and Vesic. Is this a good opening for Donald Tusk's government in terms of image? I get the impression that since the government was sworn in, the dominant message has been negative and confrontational, and voters seem to expect positive content in the first 100 days.
Prof. Domansky: It seems that a few days after the case of MPs Kaminski and Vesik, the general public perceives it as a certain failure of the government. It is obvious that they were illegally deprived of this immunity by the Speaker of the Seimas. This can be seen from the action of Mr. Holovnia, who probably comes to the conclusion that he made a mistake. Hence the consultations with the Minister of Justice and the Chairman of the National Election Commission. It means that he is not sure that what he is doing is right. This message is growing and the public seems to be taking it that way. This works to the detriment of Holounia, but to the detriment of the government, as he is identified with the government, as he is the second figure in the ruling camp. It should be noted that this does not necessarily mean that the government will lose support or legitimacy in the near future. At most, this strengthens the belief that we are dealing with big problems in the functioning of this government, not only with contradictions of worldview and program, but also with personal and character. Consolidation has not been achieved. Tusk didn't like Holonia's exposure of his character so far, he probably does everything to discredit him in some way, but on the other hand he can't do it, because it would weaken the authority of the government.
Can Holounia leave the pose of a showman and become a full-fledged politician?
Holovnia cannot play the role of a politician. The success of Reagan or Zelensky was based on the fact that they were associated with the artistic world, broadly understood culture, but they gave up this role in favor of the role of politician. Holonia either does not understand or does not want to do this, because he knows that this is his main advantage, still a presenter or a showman. If he would become a politician, he would reveal his weaknesses, because he did not become a politician for several years. It seems that this affects public opinion to his detriment.
