Margaret II was born on 16 April 1940 in Copenhagen, the eldest daughter of King Frederik IX of Denmark and his wife Ingrid Bernadotte. In 1967, Margaret married French diplomat Henri de Laborde de Montpezzat (died 2018). He has two sons – Frederick and Joakim.
