Michael van Gerwen bids farewell to the World Cup! The Dutchman, seeded at number 2, lost to Scott Williams 3-5 in the quarterfinals.
Van Gerwen is always a favorite for the final triumph and it was the same this time. The Dutchman did not even lose a set on the way to the quarterfinals! However, the first game against Williams was to prove that this match would be the most difficult yet. The Englishman didn't even lose his leg and still looked good.

The Dutchman got back on track and took a 2-1 lead. It was as if he held everything in his hands. However, Williams was able to get back into the game and once again won in straight sets. Van Gerwen mostly failed in doubles, where he only achieved 28.95%.
Williams kept her composure until the end and won the match 5-3.
