The Katowice District Court entered the opening of the liquidation process of Radio Katowice into the National Court Register. This is the first decision of the court regarding public media.

The company has already been registered as a Polish radio – regional broadcasting station in Katowice “Radio Katowice” joint stock company in liquidation. The same annotation is placed on the website of the radio station.

“The Minister of Culture and National Heritage, as a representative of the State Treasury, which owns 100% of the shares, informs that the District Court of Katowice has entered in the National Court Register the opening of the liquidation of the company, currently called Polskie Radio. – Regionalna Rozglonia w Katowice “Radio Katowice” SA is in liquidation with its registered office in Katowice. The liquidator of the company is attorney Pavel Kusak,” the statement said.

As of late Monday afternoon, this was the only entry in the national court registry regarding the opening of the liquidation of public media. Other regional radio stations, Polish Television, Polish Press Agency and Polish Radio have not yet made similar entries in the register.

Roman Giertikh, the deputy of the current civil coalition, responded to the situation on the social network. “And that's it. Zienkiewicz won,” he wrote about the actions of the Minister of Culture Bartlomiej Sienkiewicz.

Liquidator of TVP is Daniel Gorgos, Polish Radio – Pawel Maicher, Polish Press Agency – Marek Blonski and regional radio stations – Pawel Kusak.

On Friday, December 29, Minister of Culture Bartlomiej Sienkiewicz announced that 17 regional public radio broadcasting companies are going to be liquidated. When liquidation began, their governing boards ceased to function. Before that, similar decisions were made in the case of TVP, Polish Radio and Polish Press Agency. However, the liquidation process does not affect the broadcasting of the program and the work of the editorial office. These continue.
