Andrzej Duda in the presidential palace on Thursday He met the wives of Mariusz Kaminski and Maciej Vasik – Barbara Kaminska and Roma Vesik. After the meeting, the president announced that he will start the process of pardoning the detained law and justice politicians on Tuesday.
– This will be a presidential procedure, with absolutely all constitutional standards – said Andrzej Duda.

Wirtualna Polska describes the behind-the-scenes of the President's decision in the case of Kaminski and Vesik. One of the portal's informants indicates that the detention of both politicians in the presidential palace “emotionally affected the president”.
– While Kaminsky and Vesik were free, you could flex your muscles in the palace. For a long time, no one in the entourage of the president thought that both politicians would be put behind bars. Such a thought was unacceptable. Then on Tuesday we have a spectacular police action in the palace (…) both were guests of the president and when the host was not in the palace, the police arrested his guests – he said.
As the informant noted, the president and his associates managed to get an “indirect way out of the situation”, that is, the announcement of the president's pardon. He added that at the turn of 2023 and 2024, Andrzej Duda would again consider pardoning the former heads of the CBA. However, he was prevented from doing so by State Secretary Malgorzata Paprocka in his office.
– The President made a decision to pardon under the influence of the request of the wives of Mariusz Kaminski and Maciej Vesic, but also to stop the escalation of emotions in this case. And lately it has grown to enormous proportions. The day before, the President had already emphasized the need to remain calm in this matter. He wanted to make peace with his decision, the source said.
The role of SOP in custody
Wirtualna Polska also writes about President Andrzej Duda's great disappointment with the State Security Service, whose cooperation with the police led to the arrest of Kaminski and Vesic. As the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration Markin Kierwinski stated in one of the interviews, there is an exchange of information between the police and the SOP. he was “perfect”.
– The President was also affected by the way the SOP officers behaved during the arrest of Kaminski and Vesik at the palace. They came to an agreement with the new government at the expense of the long-term trust of the head of state. Even the presidential services “exposed” them. Therefore, it had no influence on the SOP, which blocks the action of the police – the WP informant said.
According to the portal, this mainly concerns the deputy heads of the SOP: Lt. Col. Bartosz Hebda and Col. Christoph Kroll.
