The Windmill Scandal. Tusk's coalition has suspended work on the controversial project

In November, a group of MPs from Poland brought 2050 and KO to the Sejm. Draft amendment to the act Regarding the support of energy consumers, which, among others, proposed the restoration of the obligation of the stock market, as well as the liberalization of the rules for the construction of onshore wind farms.

It was the regulation related to wind farms that caused the most opposition, as members of the new parliamentary majority proposed to reduce the distance from residential buildings to 300 meters for multi-story buildings and 400 meters for single-family buildings. .

The project was sharply criticized by PiS politicians, who argued that doing so could lead to the expropriation of residents for wind farms. The then Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Donald Tusk's government had not yet been formed and it already had its first scandal – the windmill scandal. He added that the Poles would lose with the proposed regulations and the lobbyists would win.

Ultimately, the wind farm project was shelved, but coalition politicians want to bring it back.
