The meeting of the President and the Prime Minister was held on Monday. The main topic of conversation was the war in Ukraine and the issue of state security. After the conversation, Prime Minister Tusk and President Duda spoke at press conferences.
Tusk: I am ready to cooperate with the opposition
At the briefing, Tusk recalled that he requested a meeting with the president regarding the planned visit to Kiev and the end of the term of office of the EU authorities. The statement of the head of government showed that although in the case of Maciej Wąsik and Mariusz Kamiński, he did not think that the position of the president would be assured, the situation in international affairs was better.
– I told the President that I cannot imagine a lack of cooperation on these two obvious issues. This is Poland's external security, that is, international politics, as well as the war situation in Ukraine and internal security. And I would very much like this common area to be as wide as possible. I am ready to cooperate with anyone, including today's opposition. Whatever the name of the opposition party, whatever it thinks of me, I am ready to cooperate for the safety of Polish men and women and the Polish state. This is indisputable for me, said the Prime Minister.
After Davos, the Prime Minister and the President will hold consultations
– We also agreed on a full exchange of information with the president. Upon his return from Davos, Mr. President from Switzerland, as he said, will also be at our disposal for these final consultations regarding our policy toward Ukraine and involvement in aid to Ukraine. We will also talk about the future government of the European Union. How to work together on this topic in the best interest of Poland, added Tusk.
