“Free Mariusz”, “We will win” and “We are with you” – these were the slogans used by them. They gathered at the detention center in Radom, where Mariusz Kaminski stays. The protest was attended by law and justice politicians, the wife of the former head of the CBA and the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, Barbara Kaminska, her son Yakub and, among others, Michal Adamczyk, who was elected by the National Media Council as the president of the TVP.
What's going on with Kaminski?
Barbara Kaminska said that during a meeting with Attorney General Adam Bodnar on Friday, she asked about her husband's “vital parameters.”
– They assured me that they were constantly measuring him and if he fell to such a level that his life was in danger, they would provide medical assistance here. I find it hard to believe that the cells were supposed to be waiting for Mariusz and Maciej and it turned out that they were not even heated because the pipe was broken for several days and my husband was sitting in the cell. Coat and clothes and it was cold. I don't know if these parameters are measured correctly, he said in an interview with “Repubblica” TV.
Mariusz Blaszczak, head of the PiS parliamentary club, also said on Saturday that one of the arrested politicians is in a serious condition.
For his part, Ryszard Czarnecki, asked by Andrzej Stankiewicz on Radio Zet if the whole situation was not “political fuel” for PiS, replied:
– Not at the expense of human suffering. One of them is in a serious state of health (…) Mariusz Kaminski's condition is very serious after several days of fasting. This may endanger his life in the future. This is not an area of political games, it is also a matter of families, he said.
Detention of MPs
Former CBA chiefs Mariusz Kaminski and Mackie Vesic stayed on Tuesday. They were arrested in the presidential palace, where they stayed at the invitation of President Andrzej Duda. PiS politicians were first taken to the police station at ul. Grenadiers, and then in the Grokhov pre-trial detention center.
On Wednesday, they were transferred to other prisons – Kaminski prison in Radom and Vesik in the town of Przytuli Stare near Ostrolenka. Before that, both politicians started a hunger strike.
After Kaminski and Vesic were arrested, law and justice politicians referred to them as “the first political prisoners in Poland since 1989”.
