In the third match of the group stage of the European Handball Championship, the Polish national team defeated the Faroe Islands 32:28 and won the first victory in this competition. Unfortunately, the acceleration came too late, as the red-and-whites had already lost their chance to get out of the group and already finished their participation in the tournament.
Before this match, the Poles had no chance to advance to the next round of the European Championship. After defeating Norway and Slovenia, the Polish national team faced the Faroe Islands in an honorable match. The Faroese also lost against the Slovenians, but they unexpectedly drew with Norway, so unlike our team, they had a game to play.
Therefore, a tough and equal battle was expected. Both teams have not yet had the chance to compete against each other. The match was incredibly tense from the first act. Only when the score of the Faroe Islands was 10:9 did they manage to go ahead by two goals. However, before the break, the score was 15:15.

In the second half, the game did not change much until the final act, when the Poles scored two goals at 26:26, and shortly after they scored three goals (31:28). The Faroese had little time to recoup their losses. The last shot belonged to our team, which finally won 32:28.
Therefore, the Ferrers lost the chance to leave the group and were additionally overtaken by the Poles. Our handball players finished the group competition in third place with two wins and two losses.
