Humphreys is mentioned among the favorites from the beginning. The 3rd seeded Englishman proved to be resilient to stress and survived tough times in his encounters with Riccardo Pietrecka and Jonny Cullen. He beat Dave Chisnall quite easily in the quarter finals.
Williams, on the other hand, surprised everyone at Michael van Gerwen's 2nd World Championship. The Dutchman himself must have been surprised, because he really did not expect such resistance from the Englishman.
The World Darts Championship will be held from December 15 to January 3. The title was defended by Michael Smith, who was eliminated in the round of 16 after losing to Chris Dobey. Three Poles participated in the tournament. Krzysztof Kciuk lost to Conor Scott (0:3) in the first round, Radek Saganski – to Raymond van Barneveld (1:3) in the second round, and Krzysztof Ratajski – to Johnny Clayton (2:4) in the third round.
